API Ghana was born from a familiar frustration: the data you need to build for Ghana exists — scattered across open maps, international databases and public archives. It just isn’t easy to use.
We compile it from published open sources, structure it under one schema, and serve it over an API you’d actually want to build on — with the source named on every row.
Every record carries its source, and every source is named with its licence.
A student's side project gets the same API as a company. Three datasets free to start, every dataset previewable, and plans when you need the full catalogue.
Open data has gaps. OpenStreetMap coverage is uneven — strongest in Greater Accra and Ashanti — and we say so rather than paper over it.
We compile open data responsibly — no personal data, and we respect each source's licence and attribution terms.
Everything is compiled from published open sources: OpenStreetMap (ODbL), World Bank Open Data (CC BY 4.0), Open-Meteo/ERA5 (CC BY 4.0), geoBoundaries, GBIF, Wikidata (CC0) and Nager.Date. It is not verified by any government body. Every record names its source.
